Spring has arrived!

Here are a few pictures from yesterday's excursion to the so-called 'Cool Valley' (Hűvösvölgy:)) Yeah, it was cool, -in both a real and in a figurative sense- but very sunny as well, as you might see its results on my face...:)

In the valley...

And in the woods again...

In Memoriam Grandma

It happened almost three weeks ago that Grandmom passed away. It is still so unbelievable, and I miss her a lot. Now, instead of words, let me display a few pictures of her and our family.

I believe it was the last encounter here on Earth but not the last encounter in our life. See you, Mama!

Ohne Mamma mia

The past few weeks passed by so rapidly that we could hardly believe today: it's time for Mom to leave us. Maybe the reason why we did not 100 percently realise the fact that she is REALLY going away, -and REALLY for 5 months, and REALLY, we will not see her until June- was due to our trip to Wien. This trip focused our attention to other things as well, not only on saying: 'goodbye'.

We 've got up at 4.30 in the morning and departured at 5, arriving to Wien around 8.30--soon enough to conveniently catch the plane since it was due to leave at 11.20, though the boarding started as early as 10.20. After a few moments of slight panic -caused by me, of course, who else could it be- when started thinking about the possible differences between Hungarian and Wien time zone made Mom and me healthily reddish for a few minutes, but thanks to Dad -and a stewardess- we finally got reassured that 10 o'clock is 10 o'clock in both the European countries. So no panic. Mommy won't escape America. :)

Arriving home around 2, I immediately rushed to the computer and searched for the flight infos on the website of JFK and looking for the map, which more or less precisely shows where the plane is at the moment. Luckily, I did find it. Here it is.

The Life Of An Eye At The Exam Period

Fortunately, I've lived through this year's exam period, too. Although this time I only had one exam, my eyes during this active studying pre-exam period looked just like they used to in every year before an exam. Well, if everything goes well, there's only one more exam period in my life, and then a new chapter will open up for me.
Here are some moments of the life of a weary eye. Who is, moreover, MY eye. :)

(Do not worry, it looks a little better now. However, probably my hard thesis writing project will result in Bloody Mary eyes similar to this...or even worse...)
Here is the bloody and puffy, tired, (almost dog-tired) heavy-eyed and blear-eyed glaze of mine. A pure glaze, with shadows; a glazy gaze, with mist.
Isn't it wonder(AW)ful?:)
(P.S. note: No eye-makeup was used on the illustrations:) I'm keeping 'alle nature';))

New Year's Wishes From Me To You

These are the quotes I have found wonderful and true enough to wish for you to the year 2009.
Under the English version you may read my free Hungarian translation.

I wish for you:

Kívánok Neked:

„…naplementéket, melyek felmelegítik szívedet.
öleléseket, mikor a lélek ázik-fázik.

„Meríts ihletet a lábaidnál heverő apró brilliáns repedésekből.”

„A kincsekhez vezető térképek kezdő és végpontja sokszor közelebb van otthonunkhoz, mint mi azt gondolnánk.
Élvezd az utad minden egyes nap;

"Legyen a szél mindig a hátad mögött,
Arcodra a napfény melege süssön,

A jó, melyet ma teszel, holnap feledésbe merülhet.

Mégis, add a világnak a lehető legjobbat magadból."

„Amint az ember életének vízén halad, megtanulja, hogy ha nem evezi a saját kenuját, nem mozdul előre.”

„Az emberek azért látják oly nyugodtnak a folyót, mert nincs kétsége: biztos abban, hogy eljut oda, ahová megy, és nem is akar máshová jutni.”

Have a joyous New Year rich in love and laughter! :)

Our Precious Moments from December

This past year's December was very lively again for our family.
First of all, my beautiful little niece, a little angel, Natalia Kylie -whose first name means 'Christmas'- was born in health on the 16th of December, as an anniversary and pre-Christmas present to her parents and to the joy to all of us.

Shiny little eyes examining the surrounding place and people

Secondly, after Christmas we visited our grandparents and though Grandma had a couple of tough days spent in hospital, we are very thankful and happy that by this New Year she seems to recover from her weakness and illness. Get well, Mama!
Thereinafter, I would like to show you moments from our Christmas celebrations.
Dec 24th
Everything started on Christmas Eve, with sparkling candlelights

and instead of Candles in the Wind, Candles at Christmas Eve at the Christmas table are those, which guaranteed the coziness of our celebration
and of course Hungarian Fish soup, one of the 'members' of our Christmas menue

hand-made angels on our Christmas-tree. See, there's a moon behind this one!(okay, it's a lamp, but you would hardly guess it, right?)
and our Christmas-tree itself, yet without the presents
here with the untouched and wrappped gifts
and here with the already touched, unwrapped presents (What a mess...)
The Eve went on with singing and listening to Christmas carols. And of course, with eating. A lots of eating. ;)
Dec 25th
The street in front of our house. The 25th of December miraculously started with snowing, despite the fact that NO SNOW was forecasted for Christmas...
heading to church early in the morning, around 9 am

the little chapel at Selyp from outside

and from inside with the Christmas-tree
the two most important material makings of December: St. Nicholas flower (poinsettia) and Christmas-tree (probably european larch)
Madonna would say: 'Papa, don't preach'...but MY Papa preaches. Fortunately.
We spent the whole day at Selyp, attended two services, one at 10 am and one at 2.30 pm. We also had a huge lunch with one of the families from the church.

on the way home the scenery -with the sunset- was simply irresistible. At least for me to take a few (or rather a dozen?) photos...:)
Dec 26th
On the evening of the 2nd day of Christmas we went to Újpest Baptist Church, my father's 'home church'
the Christmas-tree there with sparklers on it
This is how our Christmas celebration happened in 2008.
